About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in Labor and Delivery, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse to provide patient care and support. This role focuses on promoting health and preventing injury through nursing diagnosis and treatment. You will assist the interdisciplinary team in providing holistic care while advocating for patients and their families.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and health care providers to formulate care plans.
- Perform basic bedside care and nursing procedures once your skills are validated.
- Report changes in patient conditions or concerns to licensed staff immediately.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Help patients with daily living activities, including bathing, ambulation, and oral care.
- Manage patient nutrition by assisting with meals, snacks, and water.
- Record vital signs, height, weight, and intake and output data in the electronic medical record.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Support emergency care by participating in crash cart checks, CPR, and Code Blue responses.
- Provide post-mortem care as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited nursing program, specifically completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or the 4th semester for BSN students.
- Valid BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program or current employment at Kaweah Health while enrolled in a qualifying nursing program.
- Ability to provide updated transcripts to HR each term.
- Current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.

- Schedule: Part-time, 12-hour day shifts.
- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
