About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in the Cardiovascular ICU, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to provide care, prevent illness, and assist with treatment. You will partner with the nursing team to advocate for patients and their families while gaining hands-on experience in a professional practice setting.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and health care providers to formulate care plans.
- Perform bedside care and nursing procedures under the supervision of an RN.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Help patients with daily living activities such as bathing, ambulation, and oral care.
- Monitor and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake and output levels.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens.
- Provide post-mortem care and assist with emergency procedures like CPR and Code Blue.
- Report patient condition variances and concerns to licensed staff.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program with completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or 4th semester for BSN students.
- Valid BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with your nursing school or current employment at Kaweah Health while enrolled in a Kaweah Health/Unitek nursing program.
- A current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to maintain a validated Skills Checklist while working.

- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts.
