About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in the M/S Oncology department, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to provide care, prevent injury, and alleviate suffering. You will assist the interdisciplinary team in delivering holistic care and advocating for patients and their families. This is a part-time position that requires on-site work.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and health care providers to formulate care plans.
- Perform basic bedside care and nursing procedures under the direct supervision of an RN.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, ambulation, and oral care.
- Collect and record vital signs, intake and output, weight, and height.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes and greet families in a professional manner.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens.
- Provide post-mortem care and assist with emergency procedures like CPR and Code Blue response.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient environment while ensuring confidentiality.
- Report any changes in a patient's condition to licensed staff immediately.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program: completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or 4th semester for BSN students.
- Current BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with your nursing school or current employment with Kaweah Health while enrolled in a qualifying nursing program.
- Ability to submit updated transcripts to HR each term.
- Current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to notify management and HR of any changes in nursing program enrollment.

- Location: Visalia, California.
- Shift: Day, 12-hour shifts.
- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
