About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in the Telemetry department, you work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse preceptor. This role focuses on supporting patient care and gaining clinical experience within a hospital setting. You will assist the nursing team with daily tasks, help manage patient needs, and contribute to the overall care plan for patients in the unit.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and health care providers to deliver care.
- Formulate care plans in conjunction with the Registered Nurse.
- Perform basic bedside care and nursing procedures once skills are validated.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, ambulation, and oral care.
- Collect and record vital signs, intake and output, weight, and height.
- Respond to patient call lights within two minutes.
- Document all care provided in the electronic medical record.
- Help with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens.
- Assist with emergency care, including CPR and crash cart checks.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Provide post-mortem care when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- ASN students must have completed their 3rd semester.
- BSN students must have completed their 4th semester.
- Valid BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program or current employment at Kaweah Health while enrolled in a specific partnership program.
- Current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to provide an updated transcript to HR each term.

- Modality: On-site, night shift (12-hour shifts).

- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
