About the role#
This position is for Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing students. As a Care Companion, you provide supportive patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated health care professional. You work in accordance with Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and relevant regulations.
What you'll do#
- Provide support to patients, including assistance with personal care, hygiene, toileting, and mobility.
- Create and maintain a safe environment for patients.
- Act as a liaison between the patient and the nurse to report concerns or changes in condition.
- Deliver high-level customer service to patients, their families, visitors, and employees.
- Participate in hand-off reports to share pertinent information regarding patient and department needs.
What you'll need#
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to interact with other healthcare team members.
- Knowledge of patient safety standards, infection prevention, and transmission-based precautions.
- Ability to understand and follow the directions of the healthcare team.
- BLS Basic Life Support certification is preferred.
- Recent experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

- This is a part-time, on-site role with rolling recruitment.
- Locations include Mechanicsville, Richmond, Midlothian, Kilmarnock, Emporia, and Petersburg, Virginia.
