About the role#
JP Cullen offers a practical, hands-on internship experience. You will work on real projects and gain experience that reflects daily operations in the construction industry. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Madison, Wisconsin.
What you'll do#
- Perform job site safety audits to identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Recommend corrective actions and preventive measures, documenting them in a formal manner.
- Travel to various jobsites for operations meetings, safety training, and project planning.
- Lead presentations at meetings or corporate gatherings, aiming for about one per month.
- Assist with accident and incident investigations.
- Deliver one Toolbox Talk each week to your supervisor.
- Maintain a daily log of your activities and lessons learned.
- Submit completed safety audit reports to site Superintendents.
- Review the company safety manual to understand best practices.
- Document your internship projects and experiences in a binder or electronic format, including pictures and drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Construction Management.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stay organized and detail-oriented.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Comfort working in both office and field environments.
