About the role#
JP Cullen offers a construction internship and co-op program designed to provide students with practical, real-world experience. You will work directly with project managers or superintendents on active job sites. We aim to provide a challenging environment that prepares you for future professional roles.
What you'll do#
- Expedite, review, and coordinate shop drawings and submittals.
- Update contract documents to reflect current revisions.
- Organize and estimate change order work, including subcontractor pricing and quantity takeoffs.
- Evaluate field problems and drawing discrepancies, submit RFIs, and track resolutions.
- Update, print, and distribute project schedules while coordinating with superintendents.
- Create sketches and drawings to clarify construction details for field teams.
- Prepare project closeout documents, including as-built updates and warranty organization.
- Prepare agendas for and participate in weekly jobsite meetings.
- Monitor subcontractor progress, manpower, and work quality.
- Procure materials, manage logistics, and track shipments.
- Prepare cost summaries for backcharge and extra work tickets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Close attention to detail.
- A strong willingness to learn.

- Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Status: Paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
