About the role#
This internship reports to the Director of Preconstruction. You will contribute to project success during the preconstruction phase by assisting with planning, scheduling, budgeting, and bidding. You will also help maintain the tools, data, and resources used by the team.
What you'll do#
- Perform take-off assignments to quantify scopes of work.
- Ensure subcontractor quote coverage across different work categories.
- Collaborate with trade teams to sequence activities and create accurate schedules.
- Maintain the historical cost database by tracking labor production rates.
- Update the conceptual cost database and obtain current market pricing.
- Review scope letters to coordinate subcontractor proposals.
- Obtain material quotes from suppliers for self-performed work.
- Attend site walks to document existing conditions.
- Manage electronic documents and assist with problem solving during the preconstruction phase.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Construction Management, Engineering, or Business.
- Interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry.
- Strong analytical ability to solve complex problems.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A basic understanding of mathematics and strong interpersonal skills.
