About the role#
Joliet Junior College is hiring a student employee to join the Career Services team. This position supports the daily operations of the office and helps provide service to students, staff, and visitors. You will gain professional experience while assisting with outreach, communications, and various department projects.
What you'll do#
- Welcome students, faculty, and community members to the office.
- Answer phones, relay messages, and schedule student appointments.
- Provide front desk coverage and monitor the computer center.
- Assist students with job searches, career assessments, and planning resources.
- Create promotional materials like flyers, brochures, and bulletin boards.
- Help set up and break down events such as job fairs.
- Perform office tasks including copying, scanning, and mailings.
- Support staff by preparing presentations and updating department PowerPoint files.
- Correspond with students, alumni, and employers.
- Gather data for monthly and annual reports.
- Review Handshake and other career tools for new opportunities.
- Refer visitors to other campus support services as needed.
What you'll need#
- Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and good academic standing at JJC.
- Enroll in at least 6 credit hours per semester.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse population.
- High level of attention to detail and initiative.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Willingness to learn.
- Previous clerical or customer service experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is located on the Main Campus in Joliet, Illinois.
- The position is part-time and on-site.
- You will work around your class schedule, with specific coverage needed Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
- This role is paid.
