About the role#
This is a part-time student employee position within the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Veterinary Tech department. You will assist faculty and staff with daily lab and office operations while supporting departmental recruitment efforts. This role operates on a rolling basis with a flexible schedule designed to work around your classes.
What you'll do#
- Set up, dismantle, and organize laboratory spaces.
- Handle office tasks including typing, filing, and general organization.
- Lead campus tours for potential students.
- Help organize and implement departmental recruitment activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in at least 6 credits of coursework at JJC during the fall and spring semesters.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Enrollment in an Agriculture degree program or a strong interest in an agriculture career.
- Good oral and written communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with college staff and the community.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
- Experience in the agriculture industry and a valid driver's license are helpful.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends.
- Demonstrated multicultural competence.
Location & details#
- Location: Main Campus, Joliet, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Part-time, paid position.
- Hours: Up to 20 hours per week during fall and spring semesters. Up to 28 hours per week during summer and holiday breaks with supervisor approval.
