About the role#
This internship supports the design, development, and validation of active magnetic bearing (AMB) control system software and firmware. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure system reliability and performance. This is a full-time position for the Fall 2026 semester.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and validate new and updated embedded AMB control system software.
- Code, debug, and analyze system performance to ensure reliable operation.
- Integrate software with hardware components and test system functionality.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Support software quality assurance efforts and testing protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Coursework or project experience in embedded control system software development.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Assembly programming.
- Exposure to microcontrollers, microprocessors, and RTOS environments.
- Experience with hardware-software integration, debugging, and testing techniques.
- Familiarity with embedded software design patterns and communication protocols like I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Working knowledge of power management principles and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate root causes.
- U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
