About the role#
This internship focuses on compressor engineering for York brand water-cooled chillers. You will report to the engineering manager and work alongside compressor engineers, aero engineers, and technicians. The role requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week at our New Freedom facility.
What you'll do#
- Follow compressor testing and organize the resulting data.
- Create reports and execute test plans.
- Take direction from managers and engineers while providing guidance to test operators.
- Interface with compressor technicians to support daily operations.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
- Edit and maintain work guidelines for future interns.
- Assist with various assigned projects within the compressor engineering department.
- Deliver a brief presentation at the end of the term summarizing your activities and learnings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited U.S. college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
- Solid knowledge of thermodynamics and demonstrated mechanical engineering understanding.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple project priorities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine design are preferred.

- Location: New Freedom, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 to May 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Compensation: Paid position.
