About the role#
The Student Research Assistant supports clinical and translational research projects focused on respiratory function and neurological disorders, such as spinal cord injury and ALS. This role provides hands-on experience in human subjects research, laboratory techniques, and scientific writing within a multidisciplinary environment.
What you'll do#
- Prepare, submit, and maintain IRB applications and other regulatory documents.
- Conduct functional, respiratory, and neurophysiological assessments following study protocols.
- Manage participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection, and study visits.
- Process data, perform statistical analysis, and interpret research findings.
- Help draft scientific abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Assist with grant proposals and progress reports.
What you'll need#
- Academic background in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Nursing, Public Health, or Kinesiology.
- Experience or a willingness to learn functional, respiratory, and neurophysiological assessment techniques.
- Ability to assist with the preparation and maintenance of IRB regulatory documents.
- Strong organizational skills to manage research data and laboratory records.
