About the role#
The WELL at Sacramento State is hiring two Health Coaches to support students, faculty, and staff. You will work in a client-centered environment to help individuals improve their well-being by building self-awareness and setting realistic goals. This role focuses on behavior change strategies, accountability, and motivation rather than clinical diagnosis or prescribing treatment.
What you'll do#
- Conduct individual or small-group coaching sessions using techniques like motivational interviewing and reflective listening.
- Help clients create achievable, measurable goals for stress management, physical activity, and nutrition.
- Identify when a client needs support outside your scope of practice and refer them to appropriate professionals.
- Develop and facilitate wellness workshops and campus events.
- Maintain accurate client documentation and session records while following privacy policies.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Kinesiology, Public Health, Health Education, Nutrition, Psychology, or a related field.
- Current Health Coach certification from an organization such as ACE or an NBHWC-approved program.
- Prior experience working with clients in health, fitness, or wellness settings.
- Knowledge of behavior change science and goal-setting strategies.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position located in Sacramento, California.
- The role is part-time and temporary, with a maximum of 19.5 hours per week.
- Shifts are available Monday through Saturday, with schedules determined by your supervisor.
- This position is paid and does not offer benefits.
