About the role#
The College of Engineering and Computer Science is hiring Instructional Student Assistants for the Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) program. This role supports students in gateway engineering and computer science courses through cooperative learning. Facilitators work 8 hours per week and participate in a 2-unit graded training course.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate PAL sessions for students.
- Attend lectures for the main course.
- Hold office hours to support student learning.
- Assist in supervising laboratory periods, workshops, or production courses.
- Clarify course material and content for students.
- Prepare course materials and learning aids.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Sac State with at least six semester units.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- A grade of B+ or higher in the specific course you intend to facilitate.
- A recommendation from a STEM faculty member.
- Enrollment in the ENGR 197 training course is recommended.
- Majors accepted include Civil, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $16.90 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
