About the role#
The University of Virginia Medical Scribe program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain clinical experience within the Emergency Department. Scribes support clinicians by documenting patient encounters and managing medical charts, which helps improve the efficiency of patient care. This role involves close interaction with physicians and provides exposure to medical practice procedures.
What you'll do#
- Document patient history, physical exams, procedure notes, and treatment plans.
- Track laboratory and radiology results.
- Ensure all medical charts are completed and signed by the clinician.
- Assist clinicians in the Emergency Department to maintain accurate and timely medical records.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at the University of Virginia.
- Ability to work 16-20 hours per week.
- Commitment to the program for a minimum of 2 years.
- Availability for in-person interviews in September 2026.
- Preferred majors include Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or Kinesiology.
