About the role#
As a Mental Health Therapist Intern at UT Health San Antonio, you will provide clinical and consultative services to prevent, assess, evaluate, and treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. You will work under a board-approved supervisor to support patient care and clinical operations.
What you'll do#
- Provide counseling and case management services using evidence-based practices.
- Perform crisis interventions when necessary.
- Coordinate with referring providers, other professionals, and family members to engage patients in their care.
- Act as a liaison between the clinical team, leadership, and other involved professionals.
- Consult on cases to ensure continuity of care, convey assessment findings, and implement therapeutic plans.
- Prepare reports and documentation that meet clinical practice and institutional standards.
What you'll need#
- Clinical experience and knowledge regarding mental health issues.
- A demonstrated ability to provide diagnostic assessments.
- The ability to establish and maintain trust and rapport with patients.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
