The Intern Services Representative provides guidance and support regarding federal immigration regulations for international students, scholars, and faculty. This role serves as an official liaison to governmental agencies, ensuring institutional compliance while assisting the international community in navigating complex requirements.
What you'll do#
- Advise, enroll, and retain international students on F-1 visas through a consultative approach.
- Serve as the F-1 Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J-1 program.
- Plan and conduct educational workshops for students, faculty, and staff regarding U.S. immigration regulations and compliance.
- Build and maintain relationships with academic units regarding exchange visitor requirements.
- Monitor foreign government policies and actions that may impact institutional operations.
- Consult with leadership and legal counsel on complex immigration cases.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to resolve complex issues.
- Ability to research and interpret government documents and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present information effectively to non-native English speakers.
- A demonstrated commitment to understanding the unique needs of international students.
