About the role#
This position supports international students, scholars, and faculty by providing guidance on federal immigration regulations. You will serve as a key point of contact for the institution, ensuring compliance while helping students navigate the enrollment and retention process. The role involves working closely with academic units and government agencies to support the international community.
What you'll do#
- Advise and guide international students on F-1 visas through the enrollment process.
- Serve as the Designated School Official for F-1 programs and the Alternate Responsible Officer for J-1 programs.
- Plan and conduct workshops to educate students, faculty, and staff on U.S. immigration regulations and compliance.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools and colleges to manage exchange visitor requirements.
- Monitor foreign government policies that may impact institutional operations.
- Consult with leadership regarding complex immigration cases.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to resolve complex issues.
- Ability to research and interpret government documents and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to non-native English speakers.
- A commitment to understanding the unique needs of international students.
