Mental Health Therapist Intern

About the role#

As a Mental Health Therapist Intern, you will work under a board-approved supervisor to provide clinical and consultative services. The primary focus is to prevent, assess, evaluate, and treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in a clinical setting.

What you'll do#

• Provide counseling and case management services for patients using evidence-based practices.
• Perform crisis interventions as required.
• Coordinate with referring providers, other professionals, and family members to engage patients in their care.
• Act as a liaison between the clinical team, leadership, and other involved professionals.
• Consult on cases to ensure continuity of care, convey assessment findings, and implement therapeutic plans.
• Prepare reports and documentation in accordance with clinical practice and institutional standards.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Psychology, Nursing, or Public Health program.
• Clinical experience and knowledge regarding mental health issues.
• Demonstrated ability to perform diagnostic assessments.
• Ability to establish and maintain trust and rapport with patients.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Effective organization and time management abilities.
