About the role#
As an R&D Engineering Intern focused on climate resilience, you will gain hands-on experience by developing models and physical test methods. You will evaluate how building products perform under real-world conditions like extreme heat and hail. This 12-week paid internship supports product optimization, warranty assessment, and industry education.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing models and test methods to evaluate product performance under natural hazard exposures.
- Design laboratory methods that simulate relevant environmental conditions.
- Support laboratory testing, data collection, and the interpretation of results.
- Use analytical tools to evaluate experimental data and model outputs.
- Contribute to risk-evaluation frameworks for product development.
- Prepare technical documentation and present research findings and recommendations to project teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in engineering, materials science, building science, or a related technical field.
- Anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Availability to work full-time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
- Experience with laboratory testing and experimental design.
- Proficiency with analytical tools such as Excel, Python, or Minitab.
- Strong skills in technical writing, presentation, and problem-solving.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
