About the role#

J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking Engineering Co-op students for the Fall 2026 term. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a sawmill production environment, working closely with site leadership and technical teams to support operational improvements.

What you'll do#

• Coordinate mill projects by collaborating with contractors and personnel to define scope, planning, and execution.
• Lead specific projects in partnership with sawmill staff and millwrights.
• Collaborate with senior management and site leaders to drive site-wide improvements.
• Champion safety, quality, and efficiency standards on the production floor.
• Study sawmill production processes to identify and implement areas for improvement.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled as an engineering student in good academic standing, with plans to return to school after the term.
• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High energy level and thorough attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with a desire to improve operational processes.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong administrative abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with staff, tradespeople, operators, and contractors.
