About the role#
J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking Engineering Co-op students for the Fall 2026 term. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a sawmill production environment, working closely with site leadership and technical teams to support operational improvements.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate mill projects by collaborating with contractors and personnel to define scope, planning, and execution.
- Lead specific projects in partnership with sawmill staff and millwrights.
- Collaborate with senior management and site leaders to drive site-wide improvements.
- Champion safety, quality, and efficiency standards on the production floor.
- Study sawmill production processes to identify and implement areas for improvement.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as an engineering student in good academic standing, with plans to return to school after the term.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High energy level and thorough attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a desire to improve operational processes.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong administrative abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with staff, tradespeople, operators, and contractors.
