About the role#
As a member of the Hull Engineering team, you will support the design, construction, testing, commissioning, and delivery of vessels for the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard. You will work alongside experienced engineers to review technical calculations, models, and specifications. This role provides exposure to both office and industrial shipbuilding environments while contributing to large-scale marine projects.
What you'll do#
- Act as a technical project manager for vendor scope of supply for assigned systems.
- Coordinate with shipyard production and planning teams to ensure design products align with facility capabilities and build methods.
- Monitor design agent progress regarding system maturity and deliverables.
- Create technical specifications, system arrangement drawings, technical reports, and test reports.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within your engineering discipline.
- Document recurring engineering support processes and procedures.
- Identify technical risks, develop mitigation plans, and make risk-based decisions.
- Interface with the Classification Society and the Royal Canadian Navy to secure approval of functional engineering products.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering degree program.
- Up to 2 years of relevant experience, including co-ops, internships, or volunteer work.
- Interest in the marine or defense industry.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
- Eligibility for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
