Foodnet Meals on Wheels is seeking a Social Media Coordinator for an Ithaca College Federal Work Study position. This role supports the organization’s mission to provide nutrition services and friendly safety checks to older adults in Tompkins County. The position involves working with the Community Engagement & Philanthropy Manager to develop and execute a social media communications plan across multiple platforms.
What you'll do#
- Plan and implement social media communications strategies to increase client outreach and philanthropic efforts.
- Capture and edit photos and videos of organization activities for use on social media.
- Tailor messaging for diverse audiences, with a focus on engaging younger demographics on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Collect, analyze, and report on social media data to inform future communications strategy.
- Manage engagement on social media platforms, including monitoring and responding to public comments with discretion.
- Assist with event promotion and planning.
What you'll need#
- Experience with social media platforms, including posting and scheduling.
- Ability to shoot and edit photo and video content using a personal smartphone and computer.
- Strong planning, organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in or willingness to learn software such as Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva, and video editing tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- An interest in social services, food security, and senior health.
- Experience analyzing and reporting on social media analytics is a plus.
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Media Studies, Marketing, Sociology, or Psychology.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2027
- Modality: Remote, with the ability to travel to Foodnet Meals on Wheels weekly.
- Hours: 8 hours per week.
- Eligibility: This position is exclusively for students awarded Federal Work Study.
