About the role#
Ithaca College is hiring a Dining Services Student Cook to join the Terrace Dining Hall team. This role provides on-the-job training and an opportunity to gain professional experience in a food service environment. The position requires standing and walking for the duration of the shift.
What you'll do#
- Provide exceptional customer service to ensure positive guest experiences.
- Help manage other students and run shifts.
- Train new student workers.
- Set up and break down serving stations, including managing menu items, utensils, and condiments.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation according to standard operating procedures.
- Take and record food temperatures at required intervals.
- Replenish service lines from coolers, ovens, and hot boxes.
- Properly store or dispose of food after meal service.
- Maintain knowledge of food items, ingredients, and allergens to assist guests with inquiries.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers and management.
