About the role#
The Distance Learning Program Co-coordinator supports the Prisoner Express program at the Durland Alternatives Library. This role provides educational resources and opportunities for creative expression to incarcerated individuals. This position is part of the Federal Work Study program.
What you'll do#
- Read and compile prisoner responses to distance learning projects for distribution back to participants.
- Create and assemble distance learning packets to be mailed to prisoners.
- Maintain the database of active program participants.
- Pack books and draft responses to prisoner inquiries.
- Perform general library duties, including circulation desk responsibilities, filing, typing, and data entry.
- Create social media content using tools such as Canva and CapCut and manage the posting schedule.
- Collaborate with program coordinators to establish engagement goals.
What you'll need#
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to compile and manage documents effectively.
- Previous experience in library work.
- Knowledge of social media content creation.
- Students from the following majors are encouraged to apply: Communications, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Graphic Design, and Media Studies.

- Location: Ithaca, New York.

- Compensation: $17.00 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
- Eligibility: This position is restricted to students awarded Federal Work Study.
