About the role#
The Operations Support Intern works with the operations team in the Baltimore, Maryland office to assist with daily in-office tasks that support office functions. This role offers the opportunity to learn best practices for office operations, gain insight into how community members support humanitarian immigrants, and develop skills in providing culturally sensitive support. This is an unpaid internship.
What you'll do#
- Support the front desk by assisting clients waiting in the lobby and stamping envelopes.
- Assist with organizing, tracking, and facilitating staff access to contributions in kind.
- Stock and track items in the supply room.
- Distribute and track computers and key fobs for staff.
- Prepare desks for new hires.
- Perform IRC vehicle maintenance, including checking mileage and tire pressure.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or background in Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, International Relations, or Political Science.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a cross-cultural environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility, reliability, and outstanding attention to detail in copy editing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and web-based databases.
- Prior experience or interest in working with refugees and immigrants is preferred.
