Operations Intern (Fall 2026)

About the role#

The Operations Intern supports the team in Silver Spring, Maryland, by managing administrative functions and maintaining a compliant, efficient office environment. This role provides exposure to non-profit operations, including procurement, IT, and safety protocols, while supporting staff in their work with immigrant communities.

What you'll do#

• Manage and maintain digital and physical files for office inventory.
• Track and report on office inventory, including contributions in-kind and procured items.
• Assist with IT and office supply inventory, as well as on-site and off-site storage needs.
• Provide front desk support to ensure the smooth functioning of office infrastructure.
• Assist with the planning and coordination of office events and meetings.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or graduation within the last 12 months.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to follow through on tasks.
• Academic background in Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or Communications is preferred.
• Interest in logistics, procurement, or IT and a passion for working with limited-English speaking refugees.

Location & details#

• Location: Silver Spring, Maryland.
• Term: Fall 2026 (September – December).
• Modality: On-site.
• Commitment: Minimum of 24 hours per week, with at least 15 hours per week required in-person.
• Orientation: Mandatory in-person orientation on September 7th, 2026.
• Compensation: This position is unpaid; a per diem reimbursement of $15/day may be available to offset food and travel costs.
• Requirements: Selected applicants must complete a background check.
