About the role#
The Financial Coaching and Economic Mobility Intern supports the IRC Financial Coaches in providing educational tools, resources, and guidance to clients. This role focuses on increasing the financial capability of clients as they work toward their identified goals. This is an unpaid internship opportunity for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate credit education and financial literacy training sessions with clients.
- Contribute to the development of curricula for financial literacy workshops.
- Research local agencies and organizations to build community partnerships for client referrals and advocacy.
- Create personal finance tools and resources, including user guides that can be translated for client use.
- Assist clients with applications for the Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) loans and help them navigate access to bank accounts.
- Provide general administrative support and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or recent graduation.
- Strong interest in working with clients from diverse global environments.
- Familiarity with a coaching model and related activities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and internet research.
- Ability to commit to at least 10 hours per week for a minimum of three months.
- A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle is preferred.
