About the role#
The Financial Coaching and Economic Mobility Intern supports the IRC team in providing financial education and resources to clients. This role focuses on increasing the financial capability of clients through coaching, loan application assistance, and the development of educational materials. This is an unpaid internship for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the facilitation of credit education and financial literacy training sessions.
- Assist in the ongoing development of workshop curricula related to financial literacy.
- Research local agencies and organizations to build community partnerships for client referrals and advocacy.
- Create personal finance tools and resources, including user guides that can be translated for clients.
- Help clients navigate the application process for the Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) loans and assist with opening bank accounts.
- Provide general administrative support and attend team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or recent graduation, in fields such as Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Psychology.
- Strong interest in working with clients from diverse global backgrounds.
- Familiarity with a coaching model and related activities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and internet research.
- Commitment to at least 10 hours per week for a minimum of three months.
- Enthusiasm for helping others learn and a demonstrated professional demeanor.
- A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle is preferred.
