About the role#
The Youth & Education Intern supports the Student Support Volunteer Tutoring Program by overseeing its day-to-day implementation. This role involves managing the connection between community volunteers and recently resettled middle and high school students. This is an opportunity to gain experience in non-profit program coordination, social work, and youth services.
What you'll do#
- Contact recently arrived families to identify students interested in the tutoring program.
- Interview and onboard potential community volunteers.
- Match volunteers with eligible students based on demographic and location criteria.
- Coordinate initial meetings between students, volunteers, and the program supervisor.
- Document and case note every step of the process in program databases.
- Support program outreach and assist with general office or reception duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet project goals independently.
- Commitment to a 10-week internship term at 10 to 15 hours per week.
- Successful completion of an IRC background check.
- Relevant academic background in fields such as Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, Human Resources, Communications, Public Health, Nursing, or Business Administration.
