About the role#
The Finance and Accounting Intern works directly with the Chief Financial Officer to support the organization. This position provides hands-on experience with non-profit accounting principles and procedures. You will assist with the daily operations and budget management of the American Legislative Exchange Council.
What you'll do#
- Perform daily accounting tasks to maintain the general ledger.
- Manage the daily maintenance of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
- Support the registration process for ALEC meetings.
- Assist with general budget operations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as an undergraduate, graduate, or law student, or status as a recent graduate.
- Background in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
- Self-motivated work ethic.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States and currently reside within the country.

- This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in Arlington, Virginia.
- The term for this position is Winter 2027.
