About the role#
The Illinois Policy Institute is seeking an Analytics Intern to join their data and operations team. You will work on in-depth analyses to help stakeholders make informed decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills to manage messy and unstructured data.
What you'll do#
- Extract, clean, and transform unstructured data into usable formats.
- Conduct research and analysis to answer complex policy questions.
- Create data visualizations that communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain high standards of data and code quality to ensure work is reproducible.
- Produce reports for stakeholders and present findings in an accessible way.
- Document data sources, methods, and code thoroughly.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis.
- Experience building data visualizations using libraries such as ggplot2, matplotlib, seaborn, or plotly.
- Experience working with messy or unstructured data.
- Ability to maintain data quality and translate technical findings into clear reports.
- Experience working with APIs and web scraping tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Current enrollment or recent graduation in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Economics.
