About the role#
This internship is part of the Koch Internship Program, a paid experience that combines professional development with work at a non-profit organization. You will work with the Fiscal Policy Center at the Independence Institute to support research and public education efforts. The role focuses on promoting ideas related to fiscal responsibility, limited government, and economic freedom.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Center director with research and writing on fiscal and tax policy topics.
- Produce policy analysis on state and municipal budgets, tax trends, and government fees.
- Help educate the public on policy issues including transportation, housing, and healthcare.
- Attend legislative hearings, community events, and policy discussions.
- Work independently to meet project deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- An interest in free market and limited government policy.
- A basic understanding of microeconomics.
- Preferred knowledge of budgeting, tax policy, or accounting.
- Pursuing or completed studies in Economics, Political Science, or Accounting.

- This is a hybrid position based in Denver, Colorado.
- The term for this internship is Winter 2027.
- This is a part-time, paid position.
