About the role#
The Refugee TANF Coordination Program (RTCP) provides holistic services to humanitarian immigrant parents receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. The program aims to help households maintain benefit compliance, reduce barriers to self-sufficiency, and assist spouses in securing full-time employment. As an intern, you will work under the supervision of an employment specialist to support these goals.
What you'll do#
- Assess new clients by creating individual employment plans and pre-employment budgets.
- Conduct skill-building and information sessions on topics such as job readiness, interviews, digital literacy, and credential evaluation.
- Assist clients with public benefit applications and provide referrals to internal and external services.
- Create individualized resumes and cover letters while helping clients find job leads and complete applications.
- Perform strategic research and outreach to potential employer partners.
- Track service provision through electronic data entry and maintain client documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or an individual within 12 months of graduation.
- Minimum commitment of 24 hours per week, with three full working days preferred.
- Strong digital literacy skills and the ability to learn new software.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, Spanish, Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda, Tigrinya, or Amharic is a plus.

- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, though participants may be eligible for a per diem reimbursement of $15 per day to offset food and travel costs.
