About the role#
Intact is seeking a Paralegal Technology Intern to join the Professional Liability and Directors & Officers Liability team within our Specialty Insurance Claims department. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting claims specialists and advisors, working on complex files, and learning how insurers manage litigation.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the progress of litigation files and legal proceedings to track key deadlines.
- Collaborate with external law firms by conducting follow-ups and managing information flow.
- Prepare litigation summaries, case overviews, and briefings for decision-makers.
- Conduct targeted legal research on liability issues, points of law, and damages.
- Support the initial assessment of claims by reviewing policy periods, loss dates, and coverage.
- Draft professional communications, including document requests and acknowledgements.
- Assist with the financial management of claims files, such as processing payment instructions and tracking legal invoices.
- Prepare tracking reports and compile data for Claims Advisors and Specialists.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a College Diploma (DEC) in Legal Techniques.
- Full-time student status throughout the duration of the internship.
- Interest in insurance law, litigation, professional liability, commercial law, or contract analysis.
- Proficiency with technology and the ability to navigate multiple systems.
- Ability to analyze, synthesize, and organize large volumes of information.
- Excellent written communication skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Bilingualism in French and English.
- A collaborative and professional approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
