About the role#
The Guest Experience Operations Intern supports the planning and execution of events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This role focuses on staffing operations, venue logistics, and event coordination. You will work closely with the operations team to manage seasonal staff and resolve real-time issues during both marquee and tier two events.
What you'll do#
- Assist with staffing requirements, onboarding, and correspondence for seasonal employees.
- Manage data within the IMS Scheduling System.
- Troubleshoot event day issues, including equipment distribution and no-show coverage.
- Perform pre-event walkthroughs and manage facility set-up and tear-down, such as signage and bike rack placement.
- Provide administrative support and resolve customer service concerns.
- Participate in College Program activities and professional development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Strong interest in event planning, execution, and staffing operations.
- Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computers and the ability to handle clerical and organizational tasks.
- Ability to react to problems quickly with minimal supervision.
- Cultural competence and the ability to work in a diverse environment.
- Alignment with company values and standards.
- Previous experience in the IMS College Program is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Summer 2027 (January to July).
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 10-15 hours per week from January to April and June to July. During May, the role requires 40+ hours per week, including weekends and evenings.
- Physical requirements: Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and work long, irregular hours in loud environments.
