About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Planning Intern for a 10-12 week summer program in 2027. This full-time, hybrid position offers hands-on experience in the design services industry. You will work with public officials, developers, and community members on projects focused on transportation, urban design, and environmental work across the Northeast.
What you'll do#
- Research planning issues, including demographic trends, land use patterns, and environmental impacts.
- Prepare maps, reports, and planning documents using GIS software.
- Participate in public meetings and workshops to gather community input.
- Assist in reviewing zoning applications and community plans for regulatory compliance.
- Conduct site visits to collect data and assess compliance with planning regulations.
- Support senior planners in managing project initiatives and communicating findings to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp.
- Practical skills in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written formats to individuals and groups.
