About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Structural Intern for a 10-12 week program during Summer 2027. Based in Fairfax, Virginia, you will work on-site alongside experienced engineers and consultants. This role involves supporting project delivery for commercial and institutional markets, including mission critical and data center work. You will gain hands-on experience in the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems.
What you'll do#
- Assist with structural design tasks based on code and company standards.
- Coordinate design schedules with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and technology teams.
- Document design decisions, meeting notes, and client instructions.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations as required by contract agreements.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or an equivalent program.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Ability to communicate clearly with individuals and groups.
