About the role#
Thornton Tomasetti is hiring a Structural Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. This role supports both our Structural Practice and Construction Engineering Practice. You will work on real-world projects, including high-rise buildings, sports venues, cultural institutions, and complex renovations. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Kansas City, Missouri.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the structural analysis, design, and detailing of systems using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other design professionals to deliver coordinated project designs.
- Assist in the preparation of construction documents and drawings within a BIM environment.
- Gain practical experience with industry-standard workflows and documentation practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for civil, structural, or architectural engineering.
- A strong academic record.
- A clear interest in structural design and solving engineering problems.
- Familiarity with software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, StructurePoint, and Revit is preferred.
