About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while completing your pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to support patient care, manage inventory, and maintain pharmacy operations. This is a part-time position.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt, friendly service to customers.
- Fill and process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Manage inventory tasks, including ordering, stocking, and monthly inventory counts.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Protect the confidentiality of customer medical information and prescription pricing in line with HIPAA.
- Assist in training pharmacy employees and work as part of a team.
- Maintain a professional appearance and assist in other areas of the store as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Capability to handle confidential patient and financial information with discretion.
