About the role#
The Student Nurse Extern is an unregulated healthcare worker who provides direct personal support to patients at the Reactivation Care Centre. This temporary part-time position involves working rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct personal support and basic assistive care to up to 10 patients.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, toileting, and feeding.
- Document activities of daily living and relevant patient communication.
- Support therapeutic programming under the guidance of a recreation therapist.
- Assist with meal delivery, laundry services, and visitor policy support.
- Report any clinical concerns immediately to a supervisor.
- Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide basic assistive care with supervision.
- Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- Ability to use good judgment and work effectively within an inter-professional team.
