Student Nurse Extern - 7th Floor

About the role#

The Student Nurse Extern on the 7th floor serves as an unregulated healthcare worker providing direct personal support to patients. This is a temporary, part-time position involving rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. You will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses to provide high-quality, compassionate care.

What you'll do#

• Provide direct personal support and basic care for up to 10 patients.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, and feeding.
• Document activities of daily living, such as intake and output.
• Communicate relevant patient information to the inter-professional healthcare team.
• Report any clinical concerns immediately to your direct supervisor.
• Comply with mandatory training requirements, including privacy, safety, and hygiene modules.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
• Current CPR certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide basic assistive care under supervision.
• Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
• Ability to use technology effectively in a clinical setting.
