About the role#
The Clinical Extern program offers nursing students entering their final years of study the opportunity to develop clinical skills and gain hands-on experience. Working as an Unregulated Health Care Provider within the Emergency Department, you will work alongside a staff nurse to support the nursing team and gain a deeper understanding of the roles of RNs and RPNs.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the daily functioning of the nursing team at the patient care level.
- Perform fundamental patient care duties.
- Work within our established model of care.
- Contribute to a positive experience for patients and their families.
- Adhere to strict privacy and confidentiality standards at all times.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing, specifically entering year 3 or 4 of a BScN program.
- Valid BCLS certification.
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to our core values of respect, trust, commitment, compassion, and courage.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Markham, Ontario.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21 per hour.
- Schedule: Includes days, evenings, nights, and weekends, as well as statutory and school holidays. Shifts are 8 or 12 hours, with a minimum requirement of one shift per week.
