About the role#
As a Civil Engineer Intern at Houston Engineering, Inc., you will split your time between field work and office tasks. You will support our engineering team on construction phase activities and various design projects. We aim to tailor this internship to your specific interests, which may include roadway design, drainage analysis, geometric layout, or erosion control.
What you'll do#
- Assist with plan specifications, project estimates, and documentation of construction activities.
- Update redlines and create drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
- Operate electronic survey equipment including GPS and Total Station units.
- Conduct research, development, and design work for active projects.
- Collect data and observe conditions at various project sites.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering program.
- Completed coursework in AutoCAD and general surveying.
- Strong math and communication skills.
- A valid driver license and the ability to travel overnight as needed.
- Physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
