About the role#
As a Civil Engineer Intern at Houston Engineering, Inc., you will gain hands-on experience by splitting your time between field work and office tasks. You will assist our engineering team with various projects while receiving mentorship. We aim to personalize your internship based on your specific areas of interest.
What you'll do#
- Assist with plan specifications, estimates, and construction documentation.
- Create and update AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and redlines.
- Operate electronic survey instruments, including GPS and Total Station.
- Use software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
- Observe and collect data at different project sites.
- Help with the research, development, and design of projects.
- Gain exposure to roadway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, and erosion control.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related program.
- Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Ability to work outside for extended periods.
- Strong math and communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel overnight.

- Location: Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- The position operates on a rolling basis.
