About the role#
As a Civil Engineer Intern, you will split your time between office-based design work and field-based construction activities. We aim to personalize your experience based on your interests, which may include roadway design, drainage analysis, geometric layout, and erosion control.
What you'll do#
- Assist with plan specifications, project estimates, and construction documentation.
- Update redlines and work on AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings.
- Use software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
- Operate electronic survey instruments like GPS and Total Station.
- Perform research, development, and design tasks for various projects.
- Collect data and observe activities at different project sites.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or a related program.
- Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Strong math and communication skills.
- A valid driver license and the ability to travel overnight.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.

- Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- The term is rolling.
