About the role#
Houston Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Civil Engineer Intern to work on a mix of field-based construction projects and office-based engineering tasks. This role includes construction observation on Columbia Road and various parking ramps in Grand Forks. We aim to personalize your internship based on your professional interests, which may include roadway design, drainage analysis, geometric layout, or erosion control.
What you'll do#
- Assist with plan specifications, project estimates, and construction documentation.
- Operate electronic survey instruments, including GPS and Total Station.
- Update redlines and assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings.
- Use software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
- Perform data collection and observation at project sites.
- Assist with the research, development, and design of engineering projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agriculture, or related engineering program.
- Ability to work outside for extended periods.
- Above average math and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel overnight.
- Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD is preferred.
