About the role#
Houston Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Civil Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position balances field work on construction sites with office-based engineering tasks. We aim to personalize your internship based on your specific interests, such as roadway design, drainage analysis, geometric layout, or erosion control.
What you'll do#
- Assist with plan specifications, project estimates, and construction documentation.
- Create and update drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software like MicroStation or ArcGIS.
- Operate electronic survey equipment including GPS and Total Station.
- Perform data collection and observation at various project sites.
- Support the research, development, and design of engineering projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Agriculture-related degree program.
- Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Strong math and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel overnight for work.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
