About the role#
This internship provides hands-on support to various teams within Webber. It is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, Texas. You will gain experience across several key areas of heavy civil construction, including safety, survey, estimating, project supervision, and field engineering.
What you'll do#
- Learn to interpret project plans and set layouts.
- Assist with jobsite audits and observe safety incidents to prevent hazards.
- Develop an understanding of Job Hazard Analysis and Hazard Safety Observations.
- Apply proper Personal Protective Equipment for all jobsite activities.
- Learn surveying practices, including quantity calculations and unit conversions.
- Assess the materials and man-hours required for production.
- Communicate and delegate work plans to field crews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program for Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or Construction Science and Management.
- Full understanding of construction math concepts.
- Ability to perform physical activity in a field-based construction environment.
- Manual dexterity to handle items and work with your fingers.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
