About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience as a technician within an accredited food laboratory. You will work under an intermediate degree of supervision while following detailed procedures to support our Research and Development team. The role runs for approximately 40 hours per week from late May through mid-August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine and complex assays in the Chemistry Lab.
- Conduct chemistry method validation or improvement projects.
- Perform testing within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Catalog and organize foreign materials.
- Present your project findings to the lab work group at the end of your internship.
- Use analytical techniques and critical thinking to complete assigned duties.
What you'll need#
- Junior status in a degree program for Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Strong math skills and experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in environments with strong odors.
- Willingness to prepare and consume various products, including pork, beef, chicken, and nuts.
- Access to a personal motor vehicle for transportation to and from the workplace.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident. We do not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

- This position is based on-site at our Research & Development Laboratories in Austin, Minnesota.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
