About the role#
The J.M. Smucker Co. is hiring for a Sensory and Products Research Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based on-site at our corporate offices in Orrville, Ohio. You will work within our Sensory Lab and R&D Products Research functions to help us understand consumer needs and translate them into product design criteria. This is a paid, full-time internship.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine sensory panel testing of finished goods with internal and external panelists.
- Assist Sensory staff with the setup and execution of taste panels.
- Manage hands-on consumer research projects from objective setting to final share-out.
- Analyze research data and report key findings and recommendations to the team.
- Maintain lab records, protocols, and inventory.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Insights, Marketing, and Product Development.
- Present findings from your assigned projects at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in college.
- Coursework in Food Science, Nutritional Science, Engineering, Consumer Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields.
- Familiarity with sensory evaluation and lab research testing.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Location: Orrville, Ohio.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21.50 to $25.00 per hour, based on year of college completed at the start of the program.
- Additional benefits include a housing stipend for those who relocate.
